We have a full bar at DiAnoia’s Eatery and serve many Italian classic cocktails, but we also likes to put an Italian spin on non-Italian classic cocktails.  When it got cold out recently and we had a typical winter storm in Pittsburgh, it was time to play with a warming cocktail. Here is our Italian spin on the classic hot buttered rum….


HOT BUTTERED AMARO – DiAnoia’s take on classic cocktails

INGREDIENTS

1 oz   Batter
1.5 oz Vecchio Del Capo Amaro
2.5oz  Hot Water

DIRECTIONS

Build in a Steam Pitcher.  Steam for 10 seconds on an espresso machine wand. Garnish with shaved nutmeg.

Batter Recipe: Equal Parts (1 quart each) Millie’s Vanilla Ice Cream, Brown Sugar and Butter.  Plus 3 cinnamon sticks and 5 cloves.  Cook on low for 30 minutes.  Strain out cinnamon sticks and cloves. Yields 2 quarts.
